Reflections of Virus Bulletin 2024 from our Head of Revops’ POV: A Unique Experience in Security

I had a great experience at Virus Bulletin 2024, here is my recap of the event including key insights, networking, and our team's talk.

Last week, I had the privilege of attending Virus Bulletin for the first time, and I must say, it was an eye-opening experience. Having participated in various cybersecurity events in the past, I was pleasantly surprised by how Virus Bulletin set itself apart. Unlike many conferences that focus heavily on generating leads and driving sales numbers, this event was all about security and technology. It was refreshing to be part of an environment that prioritized deep discussions and genuine learning over business agendas.

One of the things I appreciated the most was the sense of community. I’ve attended events in the web application security space before, but nothing quite like this. There was a real spirit of collaboration and openness, allowing everyone to exchange knowledge freely. It was fantastic to have the chance to speak with vendors and experts from across the industry in a relaxed, unrushed setting. This gave us the opportunity to not only talk shop but also to truly get to know each other—something you don’t often experience at tech conferences.

A big shout-out to the Virus Bulletin team for organizing everything to perfection. The event was flawlessly executed, without a single hitch, and I think I can speak for everyone when I say that the experience was smooth from start to finish. The venue was perfect as well—big enough to host everyone comfortably, yet small enough to feel intimate and welcoming. It provided the ideal atmosphere for conversations and networking.

When it came to the technical talks, they didn’t disappoint. Our team thoroughly enjoyed the presentations and walked away with a wealth of knowledge. The speakers covered a range of valuable topics that gave us insights we can take back and apply to our work. Personally, I learned a great deal about the file security sector, and what stood out to me most was the culture within this community. Despite the fierce competition in the industry, there’s an unspoken understanding that we can set aside our agendas and have honest, open conversations. It’s this collaborative spirit that truly sets the file security sector apart.

Finally, I can’t finish this recap without highlighting the incredible work of our team. Not only did we make the most of the opportunity to connect with as many people as possible, but had a presentation of our own, presented by our team members Berk Albayrak and Utku Corbaci on the last day which was a great success. They talked about our discovery of an Agent Tesla with the title “Origins of a logger - Agent Tesla”. Here are some visuals from their talks:

I couldn’t be prouder of the effort everyone put in, and I’m already looking forward to next year’s event.

In conclusion, Virus Bulletin was more than just another conference—it was a rare chance to be part of a thriving, knowledgeable, and collaborative community. I’m grateful for the experience and can’t wait to continue building the relationships I made there.
